We've all been so excited here knowing that a Space Shuttle was coming to retire on the Intrepid; can't wait to see it! I was (for some odd reason) curious to know which one we were getting and it will be the Enterprise
(Might also make many Trekkies happy that the one named after their starship is coming when the next convention rolls into town!)
I also read there may be a fly by near the Statue of Liberty but it seems hard to know what time that will be; we're lucky enough to near a short walk to be in view of the Statue but without knowing the time, and here is where as a New Yorker, the issue of security comes into our minds and I wonder if they will tell us the timing.
It would seem the only thing to do is keep the news on to find out when/if it takes off from Dulles and gets into JFK, then off again for the fly by before going back to live at JFK until June when it will be towed by barge up the Hudson which will also be ANOTHER awesome site to see! Cooler still? Watching how they get it onto the Intrepid!
The Intrepid was already awesome, it's now going to be even more amazing!
Also keep in mind, New York City Fleet Week, dates to be announced but usually starts by Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend. Another fun family day in New York City!
