Talking 2012 Beach Vacation

We will be traveling with 4 out of 6 of our children. They are 7, 12, 13 and 16. I am curious where the KID FRIENDLY beaches are. Also, I always say that a really great hotel/resort, etc...can actually be like a vacation in itself if it has enough "awesomeness" to it!! Is it better at the hotels? Beach cabins? Resorts? Another question, what about really neat places to eat? (We haven't decided between Branson and Florida yet, but I'm trying to gather as much info as I can!)
