We have been to Beaches Boscobel, Negril, and Turks...loved them all...Now we are trying to plan a fall vacation and don't know where to go...We don't want to go to Mexico, may try the Dominican Republic or other Caribbean island.
Our concern is that they will not be as nice as Beaches. Turks is great but a little more than we want to spend...any suggestions are helpful!!!!!!
I know what you mean, the dreaded non Beaches buyers remorse!! I really struggled with this when planning our recent trip to Mexico. Our only other family A.I. was Beaches T&C (prior to the Italian village) which we absolutely loved, but unfortunately the prices lately seem outrageous! So I kept going back and forth, worrying that If I chose somewhere else all I would hear is "its not as good as Beaches." Finally, after much research, price won out and we selected Dreams Riviera Cancun for about $3000 less and one day longer than what I was looking at for Beaches T&C. I'm happy to report that outside of one case of illness, everything was pretty much perfect, and my savings more than paid for 2 off resort excursions.
I know you mentioned that you weren't looking at Mexico, but my purpose for replying was to mention that that finding another resort just as good for less is possible (although it may take a lot of research). Having said that, we would love a return trip to Beaches T&C - just wish the prices would come down. 65% off doesn't mean much when you start so high to begin with.
Regarding your question, as you probably know most of the A.I's are limited to Mexico, Jamaica, and the D.R. The only resort that we have stayed at in the D.R. was adults only, so no help there..........
We stayed at Beaches negril also and loved it.
Went on a cruise the next year and then ready for another AI.
Stayed in DR at the Melia Caribe Tropical- liked it. Great pools. Beautiful beach. Great activity staff. Small game room. great obstacle course my kids spent alot of time at. plenty of water sports.
Have now booked Beaches T&C as we loved the Beaches product.
For me-the Melia seemed to have lots of stuff for the kids to do but it did not compare to Negril. We can't wait to T&C.

Have you thought about any of the islands like St. Thomas or St. Maarten? I have heard wonderful things about both islands. What about US beaches? and what do you like to do the most relax beach side, sight seeing, ect.

Research, the Divi Aruba sites. I stayed a whole week, the island is small, beaches are beautiful, the people are great!! However, if you don't like reptiles, caveat!! The island pets are Iguanas They don't bother u, but are just everywhere, interesting creature. But the island offer casinos, for night life and public transportation which is cheaper than cabs and more convenient!!! Love the island

I haven't been to Aruba but it is on my bucket list of places to go. I do have relatives that go to Aruba and swear by it. They always tell me it has a little bit of everything thats why they like it so much.
I have heard (I do not know if this is true or not)that the one thing that women sound not do in Aruba is wear red colored nail polish on their toes because the Iguanas will think your toes are kind of red berries they like to eat. And don't be surprised if you leave your beach seat only to return with a Iguana in your place.
Personal I love this kind of stuff and would get a Kickout of it.

We are still looked for another AI to go to in Feb. My kids 16 and 13 really would love to go back to T&C but their rates are just way to high now.
Last Feb. we went to Sandos Playacar Beach Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Was nice, beach too, but nowhere near T&C. But the rates were great and the kids most of the time busy.

I loved Playacar. I didn't care for the hotel The Reef resort to Small and not enough choices.
I want to go to T&C for my anniversary, and redo my vows with hubby and have my daughter there with us. This is a trip that I will be doing in about 3.5 years. In the meantime I guess I will have to settle for the cruise we are taking in March 2011. Such as life. LOL.....

I was in St Thomas in January 2010 and did not enjoy my stay. We stayed at what was supposed to be a luxury resort and were very disappointed. The island is VERY crowded and every taxi ride is a thrill - and not in a good way. Everything was very overpriced!! I have travelled extensively and I can honestly say, I would not go back to St Thomas.

Now this might sound a little crazy but what about going somewhere in the US. ? There is always Hawaii. Or are you set on the AI type resort? Puna Cana I hear is very nice but there isn't much you can do off the resorts. Have you looked at Cozumel or Playa Del Carmen. I personally like Playa because you can enjoy both Playa and Cozumel at the sometime because they are so close to one another.
