Wonderful Stay, Beautiful Location, Accommodating Staff

by ampersandi

We stayed a Frost and Fire on two separate overnight occasions and had very wonderful experiences both times. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and our rooms both times were clean and comfortable (and no noise from adjacent rooms!). We have a family of 3, and my daughter was quite comfortable on the pull out sofa. I had read previous reviews of people not happy about the size of the room - we found it perfectly manageable. The hotel offered both shoes and bathrobes for use at the spa/pool, and our room the first night was just outside of one of the spas (quick walk as it was cold outside!). The views from both rooms were really beautiful.
We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel, enjoying both, and found the menu offering something for all of us.
A nice plus was the ability to buy stamps and postcards at reception, with the staff offering to mail them for our daughter. Also, when we needed an adaptor plug the front office was able to provide one for us to borrow. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

It's more atmospheric in the Winter but still a great place to eat and unwind

We booked it as our treat at the end of our 2 week road trip circumnavigating the island. It didn't seem as special as the first time we went as the pool and hot-tubs are amazing in the winter, with the difference in temperature between the air and water contributing to the experience with the smell of pines over the pool and hearing the surging water race by from the river beneath while in the hot tub.
The hotel very kindly arranged to dry our sodden clothes and made us feel very much at home and the food was just as good as before. We enjoyed boiling our egg in the fishing net over the outside geothermal outlet.
