Overview

Of the 89 rooms in this three-level hotel, there are eight pairs of adjoining rooms and five family suites. The suites include Murphy beds, which surely, the kids will love. The meal plan is called Modified American, which means a buffet breakfast and a full four course seated dinner. This all takes place at the Top of the Lodge Restaurant, which also includes a complete kid’s menu.

The fun place to hang out when not on the slopes is the Goldminer’s Saloon. Here you’ll find billiards tables, foosball and even a big Thomas the Tank Engine play table. The saloon is known for its pizza and open mic night on Tuesdays. Liquor laws are more conservative in Utah, thus only wine and 3.2-percent beer is available for parents.

Goldminer’s Daughter is the lodge closest to the lifts for more advanced skiers and is also home to a wonderful spa with high altitude treatments.

Special note: Only 12 school-age children live year-round in Alta and their one-room school is located on the lower level of Goldminer’s Daughter.

Everything you need

Rustic lodge in perfect ski in / ski out location. Pricey, but when you consider you get breakfast and dinner included it's a decent value. You can walk across parking lot to Peruvian Bar. They have a free shuttle service to Snowbird which is also very convenient. If you are at Alta to ski, this place has everything and is a good choice. If you are looking for gourmet meals and refined table service with a great wine list, this is not the place. They do need to spruce this place up a bit as it is getting very dated and tired in some ways.

The saloon on second floor is a great spot for lunch.

The saloon on second floor is great spot for lunch. Great views and warm fireplaces, foozball and big TV to catch a few minutes of the game in between runs.
Try the nachos and the Pizza for sure. The beer is always frosty!
