February vacation

by Tammylee1972

Elvyn is the absolute best! The beach bar is where you'll find him aswell as his Elvyn special drink. The gentleman who brought our luggage to our room had such a warm and fun personality and continued to make us feel welcome and joke around with us the whole trip. All in all, the resort, and staff were great. I just had issues with sand fleas when the sun went down only. Not during the day at the beach, always in the show area so I didn't go and I was fine. Needed meds and I was marked up from the volcano like wounds til July. Severe allergic reaction. I will make sure I bring meds with me next time, so so expensive there.

Our Home away from Home

by Jan B

Just home after two fab weeks and everything was wonderful but this time there were many firsts.

Weather: It was hot, dry and more humid than usual this time of year with NO missed beach days due to weather. There were very few showers which were mostly through the early morning hours and very little wind even in the afternoons so no Yaky, the talented kiteboarder, in the afternoon and that's a first. During the second week there was high tide which nearly came up to the back row of the palapas on the beach and we've never seen that before.

Typically occupancy was low this time of year but this changed the second weekend with the Dominicans celebrating their Constitution Day and this changed with the high occupancy we've ever seen. It was lovely to see the Dominican families having fun for a couple of days but it did seen rather quiet after they returned home.

We had our usual (regular, superior room) in Saona which our maid kept clean.

We ate at all three a lla cartes but still really enjoy the variety at the main buffet. Thanks to all the staff but especially to Raul, Rosa and Denny and to Juan Eduardo Acosta for his great smoothies in a.m. and cooking on the grills at lunchtime.

Once again with premium upgrade we enjoyed the Vintage Club with thanks to Solange and the staff there.

Only comment this time (and not just from us) was that there was no "ice breaker" entertainment between 8.30 and 9.30 pm which has never happned in the past even this time of year with low occupancy. We did really enjoy the Trivia Quiz which was the 9.30 pm entertainment last Monday and I did get to participate in the karaoke night on the long weekend.

This time we met many guests we've met before and some new guests as well. Feedback was very positive from all. It was good to see some UK guests findings way to get back here since the direct PP flights from UK were curtained. Most of them came via Miami.

Thanks again, Pedro and your 5 star staff. All being well we will see you again soon.
