Overview

The Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa is one of four Palladium Resorts’ Riviera Maya properties, which also consists of the Grand Palladium Colonial Resort & Spa, Grand Palladium Riviera Resort & Spa and Grand Palladium White Sand Resort & Spa. All four resorts share restaurants, activities, and amenities on the 5-star, all-inclusive property, which is situated along 2,400 feet of white-sand beach.

The all-inclusive resort is extremely family friendly. Kids 12 and under stay, play and eat free, while teens 13 to 17 stay with parents for a reduced rate. Proving kids are ever important to the resort chain, the Palladium Hotels & Resorts partnered with Raggs, an Emmy award-winning, live-action TV series, featuring five colorful and musical pups. Kids will enjoy Raggs-themed breakfasts, dance parties, pirate shows and more during their stay — all included.

Perhaps one of the best parts of the full resort is its commitment to the environment. Instead of large buildings on the beach, the resort is spread across its massive acreage, surrounded by lush tropical surroundings. Rooms are offered in buildings that do not grow higher than three stories, and walkways and paths beneath palm-fronded coverings connect accommodations to the resorts’ restaurants and shopping areas. You may pass flamingos or crocodiles en route, and surely you’ll spot iguanas sunning nearby. Even at capacity, Kantenah never feels crowded, and families can find places to be alone together.

The Palladium Resorts make a wonderful choice for families visiting Riviera Maya.

Another Great Stay

by Redlaura

This was our 9th visit to the Grand Palladium and yet again we had a wonderful stay.

We had a little issue on arrival but we managed to get this sorted out straight away.

Everything about this place is awesome from the choice of restaurants, variety of food and the wonderful staff.

Want to give a massive shout out to Alfredo in Bar Azul, Ricardo in Kantenah, Fredy in Colonial and Antonio in the sports bar.... these guys looked after us and kept us topped up in tequila the whole time. A special shout out also to Sarahi in TRS who made us feel special on every occasion and looked after us and our parents every evening!!

Will I be back? Well I would love to say yes..... any special offers Grand Palladium for our 10th visit?!?

A decent hotel

by paulbH8414AV

Visited with with and 12/ 6 year old children.
Good points
Beautiful hotel in a natural environment. Great beach and pool. Plenty of bars serving quality drinks and well make cocktails.
Interesting wildlife-agouti, monkeys as well as 2 flamingo lakes, fish in abundance and a crocodile enclousre.
Outstanding staff. They couldn't have been more polite and helpful.
Plenty of sunbeds on around pool and beach. With a family of 4, it didn't matter when we arrived, we found sunbeds with a mixture of sun and shade together.
Loads of restaurants to choose from. Our favourites were the tappanyaki and teak restaurants. Only once did we have to wait more then 15mins for a table. The buffet restaurants are also available and are excellent for breakfast and lunch. There are 2 in the hotel, one by the pool and one on the beach.
All inclusive mini bar. It's a small thing but I hate all inclusive hotels that charge for using the mini bar in your room. It was well stocked and always filled up.
Activites-not stop if you want. There are the usual fitness and yoga classes as well as paddle boards, kayaks and wind surf boards included. There are also surf and sailing lessons available.
The sea. OMG it was so warm and shallow enough for even nervous swimmers. Very little seaweed this year but bring reef shoes as there is a small reef to walk across when getting in the water.
Evening shows are of a high standard performed by professionals.

Bad point
Only one issue. The food in the al la Carte restaurants was generally not hot. This a real shame as the quality was decent but how hard is it to serve hot food! To an extent, this spoilt the evening meals as the restaurants were beautiful as was the service. If they get this right, this would be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.
I would love to score this hotel 5/5 but can't until the food temperature is sorted out.

Family Activities

Kids Clubs
Located at the large pool, between the Colonial and Kantenah Resorts, two all-inclusive kids' clubs provide a place for supervised activities for young children. A Baby Club, open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., is offered for children 1 to 3, with the El Ranchito Mini Club, open 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., for kids 4 to 12. Radios are provided to parents of infants so parents can be reached. Activities are divided by ages 4 to 8 and 9 to 12, although exceptions may be made for siblings wanting to stay together.

Teens 13 to 19 will enjoy the Black & White, which is located far from the kids' clubs at the Kantenah Resort, so they won't feel like little kids. The teen center offers computers with Internet, pool tables and video games, and is open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily. Children's activities are planned throughout the day and evening.

Play at Palladium with Raggs
A new Play at Palladium with the Raggs program brings the cast and characters of the award-winning children's TV series, Raggs & Friends, to life across the resort. Special breakfasts, dances, activities and events are scheduled throughout a week-long or weekend stay. On Sunday nights, kids can join in Pido's Surf Party dance party, as well as the 50-minute live Raggs Pirate Show spectacular.

Pools
The entire resort shares activities and amenities, with families able to enjoy four pools (three additional adult pools are available), a saltwater pool and Jacuzzis. Lifeguards are on duty at the pools from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests must get pool and beach towels from towel huts. A brand new water park opened late in 2013, with water slides, a splash zone and a kid-friendly pool.

Sports
The resort's sports complex features six tennis courts, two basketball courts, a soccer field, shooting range, archery and mini-golf, while three beach volleyball courts are also available for active guests. Water sports includes kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, pedal boats, pontoon boat rides and sailing aboard the resort's catamaran. The facility is located at the Colonial resort.

Spa
The small spa provides basic treatments for children, including manicures, pedicures and hair braiding.

Nightly Entertainment
Two indoor theaters offer kid- and adult-friendly entertainment nightly, as well as live music, karaoke and a disco for 18-plus crowds also provides evening fun. Special evening Raggs' events entertain children and are supervised, if parents want to attend adult programs.

Habitats
With a focus on the environment, guests will find two flamingo lakes and two crocodile habitats with public feedings. Koi ponds and ecological walks are also part of the charm of the property, with multiple paths connecting guest wings and main areas of the resorts.

Family Dining

The resort features nine a la carte restaurants, five buffet and open-air restaurants and 21 bars, spread across the entire property.

The main buffet at Kantenah is Buffet Tikal, which serves breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and dinner from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The El Gran Azul buffet is also offered at the Kantenah and Colonial Resorts, and La Laguna buffet is available at White Sands and Riviera, with breakfast from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., lunch from noon to 4 p.m., and snacks and tea from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A la carte dining is available during the evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with men 12 and older required to dress in long pants and sleeved shirts. A la carte restaurants at Kantenah include Mare Nostrum Mediterranean restaurant and Sumptuori Japanese restaurant. At Colonial, La Adelita provides Mexican fare and El Dorado is a traditional steakhouse.

White Sands also features a la carte restaurants, including Portofino (Italian), Bamboo (Chinese), Rodizio (Brazilian) and Ribs & More (BBQ).
