All About the Extras
Upon arrival at the Grand Wailea you’ll be welcomed with a lei greeting and offered a colorful non-alcoholic Mai Tai punch. (Guests love this tasty beverage so don’t skip.)

Valet Parking is $20.00 per day.

A resort fee of $25/a day includes 1-800 and local phone calls, art and garden tour, coffee and tea in the guest room, fitness center use, internet access, introduction to scuba diving, self server parking, yoga lessons, nightly turndown service, 24-hour room service and 24-hour security is also included.

Check out is at noon, but if you want to savor your last precious hours pool or beachside, ask about the Grand Wailea’s complimentary hospitality rooms where you can shower and freshen up before heading to the airport.

A picturesque wedding chapel, called the Wailea Seaside Chapel, awaits happy couples with towering stained glass windows depicting a traditional Hawaiian wedding. A variety of wedding packages are available. Sometimes a wedding is concluded with a beautiful fireworks show over the beach for everyone to “ooh and ahh” at.

Rental Cars
Attempting to navigate a vacation on Maui without a car means you’ll spend a lot of time in your hotel or condo. Now, if you’re wondering how bad that could be at the Grand Wailea, you make a good point. You certainly can find a plethora of activities for everyone in your family at the Grand Wailea, but if you plan to explore, a car rental is a necessity. Just a friendly note: when you reserve a car for a week it’s cheaper then by the day.

Also, Maui is a safe island, but take normal precautions such as don’t “hide” your camera and valuables in your car’s trunk in full view of others. Be discreet when you tuck them into the trunk.

One more helpful hint: just as you’re exiting the Kahului Airport stop at Costco or Sam’s Club for inexpensive snacks, milk and even snorkels. When you’re returning to the airport stop by either warehouse to find great prices on Macadamia nuts or Kona coffee -- perfect gifts for those who didn’t get a fabulous trip to Maui.

Taxis
Clean and reliable, taxis on the island of Maui are at your service. However, they cost a pretty penny. Consider using a taxi only to motor from the airport to the Grand Wailea and back again.

SpeediShuttle
An awesome option for those who don’t have a rental car and don’t want to spend a on fortune a taxi. SpeediShuttles are comfortable and clean mini-buses that stop at the airport and resorts.

Babysitting services
Please contact the Concierge to arrange baby-sitting with the Nanny Connection a reputable outside nanny service.

Business Center
The Grand Wailea offers a full-service Business Center located on the fourth floor. Available for copies, faxes, or rental of office equipment. Items can also be packed and shipped worldwide. Internet access is also included in the $25/a day resort fee. The Business Center is open 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Fitness Center
Located on the ground floor in the Spa Grande, the fitness center is a 2,500 square-foot facility equipped with state-of-the-art Precor cardiovascular equipment and top-of-the-line strength training tools. You'll find a full description of the fitness center under the heading “Mom and Dad Are Family, Too!”

Hotel Shops
The Shops at Wailea is home to a diverse group of retailers from Louis Vuitton to the Spa Grande Bath & Body to art galleries and Hawaiian shops with unique gifts. Grand Jewels of Wailea offers estate and antique jewelry with items dating to the 1700s. The Pineapple Patch welcomes keiki to visit and discover toys, games and apparel that, they say, you won’t find anywhere else in Hawaii.

Art of Smart Timing
The quiet months (i.e. best deals to be found) on Maui are after spring break/Easter through May and all of September and October. A good rule of thumb: anytime school is out on the mainland, Hawaii fills up.

Maui Weather
Maui weather isn’t as easy as one would expect. Made up of several microclimates, some parts of the island get wind, others rain and one part is Arizona-hot .

The Grand Wailea, however, sits on the sunny South Shore. Think: gorgeous tropical weather with a hint of rain from December to February. Temps linger in the 80s with evenings becoming somewhat chilly enough to warrant a light sweater.

What’s The Damage
Grand Wailea basic rooms with a garden view start at $399 per night. At the far other end of the spectrum is the ninth floor Grand Suite that will set you back $15,000/a night.

Sitting between Grand Wailea’s basic room and the Grand Suite sit 52 “regular people” suites starting at $975 per night.

The Villas At Ho’ole town homes begin at $795 per night.

For Mom and Dad
Art and Garden Tours, located in the Grand Wailea NaPua Art Gallery, fourth floor
The heartbreakingly beautiful art sculpted by Mother Nature herself throughout Maui is why so many of us plunk down the money for the plane fare in the first place. The unparalleled jewel-like sunsets alone may bring tears to your eyes while outright weeping isn’t considered dramatic in these parts.

But leave it to the Grand Wailea to bring human-created fine art to the island. Considered to have the best art collection in the state of Hawaii, the Grand Wailea’s tropical grounds are dotted with pieces by Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and Fernand Leger. Nine of Fernando Botero’s work graces the lounge area next to a bar named in honor of this great artist: the Botero Bar.

When you dine at the Humu restaurant you’ll be entranced by the Mermaid of Wailea with Dolphins by Herb Kawainui Kane (born on the mainland, but raised in Hawaii).

Sculptures, original paintings, graphics, murals and grand mosaics are found throughout the 40 acres. An Artists in Residence program happens every Tuesday and Friday welcoming local artists to display their creations in the lobby.

Want to learn more about this impressive collection? The Art and Garden Tour begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the NaPua Art Gallery. No reservations necessary. The tour winds throughout the resort and the art is explained. Highly recommended.

Fitness Center
Trimmed in dark wood, the Grand Wailea Fitness Center has an earthy, masculine quality to its 2,500 square-foot facility. Equipped with state-of-the-art Precor cardiovascular equipment and top-of-the-line strength training tools, you’ll also find yoga and a variety of fitness classes at no additional charge.

Racquetball, squash, basketball, wallyball or handball is played on a special court that’s an indoor, air-conditioned half-court. Just sign up at the spa reception desk to reserve a court time, for a private lesson or to challenge the pro. All necessary equipment is provided. Open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Hibiscus Pool
The Grand Wailea is an unbelievable stay to enjoy water slides galore, but when you require a little adult time we recommend the elegant Hibiscus Pool created especially for the over 18 crowd. The Grand Wailea, apparently unable to do anything small, created a 4,850-square-foot pool dotted with chaise lounges, two whirlpools and poolside cafe service. We recommend the Lava Flow libation. A blend of coconut, pineapple, ice cream, banana, strawberries with a splash of something stronger. Oh, why not? You’re on vacation!

Spa Grande
There’s a reason why the Grand Wailea’s opulent Spa Grande reigns from the summit of Travel & Leisure and Spa magazines “best of” list. This world-class spa is not only considered the finest spa in the state of Hawaii, but is also considered one of the best spas in American within the spa industry. It’s quite common for guests to visit the Grand Wailea for easy access to the Spa Grande alone.

Offering 42 private treatment rooms, a spa boutique and a full-service lounge. One of the features that make the spa unique is its Terme Hydrotherapy Circuit. Choose from several aromatic baths including a mud, an enzyme and a papaya bath. Arriving just one hour before your scheduled treatment won’t give you nearly enough time to enjoy a complimentary honey-mango loofah exfoliation and these magnificent baths so schedule accordingly! Guests can choose to use only the Terme baths without scheduling a treatment ($55/a day).

The spa also boasts two steam rooms with a dry and wet room, waterfall massage and Japanese hot and cold baths.

If you’re looking for some quiet R&R on your own, absolutely go for it. But don’t overlook the chance to create some beautiful memories by enjoying this spectacular spa together. We recommend the 80-minute, side-by-side Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage followed by a full-body cocoon, scalp and foot treatment using the healing plants of Hawaii. Or opt for a massage outdoors in a hut with a thatched room, ideal for a couple.

“For better or worse” just got a whole lot better.

Wailea Golf Club
Golf Magazine and Golf Digest both rate the Wailea Golf Club as one of the best in America. The Grand Wailea gives its guests special pricing to the three championship courses within the Club: the Blue, the Gold and the Emerald. Rent quality clubs and shoes, dine at excellent restaurants and relax in beautiful lounges.
