Admission to the waterpark is included in your room rate. This massive on-site water park is open year-round -- even in the most frigid Ohio winters -- and since it's indoors, there's no sunscreen required. The temperature is always set at a balmy 84 degrees.
Attractions within the waterpark include Fort Mackenzie, a multi-level play area with water cannons, slides, cargo nets to climb on and a giant 1,000-gallon tipping bucket. The three- and four-story water slides are for thrill seekers, while more mellow adventurers can float around on a tube in the lazy river or play basketball in the recreation pool. A zero-depth-entry kiddie pool is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The Soak & Oak Playhouse is also designed for young visitors, with its an interactive treehouse made of sculpted foam that is soft to the touch, with water-squirting bear cubs and slides.
The water park is always staffed by certified lifeguards, between 10 and 14 depending on occupancy. It's generally open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m., but hours vary slightly depending on day of week and time of year. An outdoor pool area, Raccoon Lagoon, is also open seasonally.
At the evening Clock Tower show in the three-story Grand Lobby, animatronic animals sing and dance. The eight-minute show is followed by story time (by a live person) and kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas and slippers. Cub's Cabin is a free-play area for ages 6 and under, with kid-friendly computer stations, puppet theatres, musical instruments and storybooks. Parents must accompany children. Cub Club is for older kids ages 5 to 12, and provides nature-education programs (parents need to be present) which are held throughout the day. Kids can also visit the Cub Club activity center to make crafts or watch a free family-friendly movie - for a fee.
The Northern Lights Arcade has more than 100 games, where kids earn tickets to turn in for prizes.
