My DH and DD (age 9) and I stayed at the Grosvenor Suites in downtown San Francisco 10/5/09 - 10/07/09. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a bargain in San Francisco. We stayed in a 1-bedroom corner suite. With floor to more +ceiling windows on 2 sides of the living room/kitchen area and a separate bedroom with 2 queen beds, it was very spacious, clean and surprisingly quiet.

It is located within walking distance to Chinatown and the cable car line. Yes, it is hilly, but this is San Francisco!

The living room has a fold out sofa bed and good size TV. The kitchenette has a full size refrigerator, stove, microwave and large table. Although we did not go there, there appears to be a small grocery store about a block away. There is a free continental breakfast with juice, coffee, muffins and bagels.

There was a free use of a computer and the Internet worked fine. Staff was not overly friendly but was helpful and even allowed us to use the manager's computer to print our Alcatraz tickets.

This is definitely not a newer hotel - yes, it is somewhat dated, but for the price, size and location, I would not hesitate to stay there again (ask for the corner suite on the 13th floor).
