Cedar Rapids Business Travel

by Freedom26307043728

The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to accommodate. I arrived 2 hours early and they took my phone number down and called me as soon as my room was available so I could just show up and get my key. The breakfast was varied and fresh. Try the yogurt smoothies and fresh fruit! A great business stay, thanks so much.

Very loud all night, “party hotel” not family friendly, and creepy overnight hotel “security”.

Initially we were pleased with the convenient location and how clean the hotel was. We have a nice evening in Cedar Rapids, but that night our stay at this hotel was the worst I had in a decade. The room was nice, the shower was nice and the pool was average but the chlorine so strong most families there complained it burned their eyes, and the hot tub was out of order (which didn’t impact us). Multiple sports teams were staying there, which is fine and the players were a bit rambunctious but it is understandable. However, the entire night there were parties - shrieking laughter, slamming doors, etc. all night which meant we did not sleep at all. Thankfully the kids slept through enough of it. Our room it turns out was right over the lobby, and we could hear all of the parties next door and in the lobby under us so clearly I knew the names of many of the people - we could hear every word they said. There was no soundproofing at all, which isn’t really the party people’s fault. In the early morning hours it got so out of control we called the front desk to ask if they could assist. A security guard came to our room and was very strange; hostile with us, and a little threatening. Insisted he could not ask anyone to quiet down and would rather they party in the public spaces than elsewhere. When we suggested we would then go nicely ask them to quiet a bit as children were trying to sleep, he stood as tall as possible in front of us and blocked our way to the elevator saying “I cannot have you doing that” multiple times. He said there was nothing he could do to quiet anyone and that we were the ones who would have to be dealt with. He is quite creepy and I found it surprising that we were considered the problem, and how threatening he acted. The location is convenient but there were many other hotels right nearby that might be safer and more family-friendly. We booked directly and with Hilton rewards, too.
