Staff I’d Helpful But Hotel Way Overpriced For What You Get

by BQM67

Came in for a family emergency and the manager and staff were extremely accommodating but even their attitudes couldn’t make up for the subpar property. The hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade especially given that it costs nearly $200 a night with taxes. The rooms are tiny, hotel closet smells like mold, there are only small bins to store clothes, and the water pressure is non-existent and hot water runs out after the first person takes a shower. The breakfast isn’t great and they use a lot of butter with eggs and don’t offer healthier meat options like turkey bacon or sausage. It’s apple season and all the apples were bad, for example. The common areas and hallways are dark and rugs are old. The workout room; however was ok with three working pieces of equipment. It’s hard to find a room near Salem especially this time of year, but for my money I’d go with the Springhill Suites next door ( if they have availability). Finally, watch out when you hit call on the website it sends you to a third party consolidator verses the Hilton themselves ( and we’re honors members). The third party group Reservation Now nearly swindled is out of $1000 (they actually never booked our room so when we cancelled theirs to rebook with Hilton and they said we shouldn’t have cancelled ) we had to cancel our credit card to get out of it!!! Ugh!

Place to sleep.

Hotel and staff were good. Pool smelt a little fishy mostly due to the salt water system but also wasnt warm enough. Breakfast was your traditional continental. I hate when they serve either bacon or sausage and never both on the same day. Good place for the price. The highways its on leaves something to be desired. Had to go yen minutes out of the way to get to the other side of the road businesses. Such a pain. Overall good trip.
