Excellent Location!!!!

by BobbyG1977

My wife and I stayed here when seeing Hamilton. It’s literally in the same building as the theater which is ideal. Like others have stated, you do not have to wait in the line outside to get in the show. The bellman will walk you into a side entrance and you enter right in the security screen before scanning your ticket. Valet parking was $59 at the time we stayed and worked out great. The hotel was very clean. The rooms were a little small but fine for my wife and I. There is a ton of shopping on State Street as well as an abundance of restaurants nearby. Highly recommend the Grill Room and Wine Bar directly across the street as well as the Italian Village which was less than a 2 minute walk. Some people complained about the elevators, and while there were short waits at times, it was really nothing to complain about. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again in the future.

SUPER DISAPPOINTING

So my fiancé and I are long time Hilton Honors members. We had an impromptu engagement to attend downtown Chicago, and typically we have no issues with our stays at Hampton, the rooms are always clean, service is typically great, and the complimentary breakfast is always a nice touch. So there were no questions when we booked this last minute in-town stay.

While not a huge surprise, our first disappointment was the $60 valet parking. ???? No thank you, we managed to find free parking (yes it exists). What happened next was the grossest thing ever. The bathroom was not the cleanest but when we ran the water to warm up, the tub filled up with water. The drains were clogged!!! As a former Sailor in the US Navy this brought back terrible memories of showering in the nastiest of ship heads (bathroom on a ship). We instantly contacted the front desk staff who expressed very little remorse. She said there were no engineers in the building and there was nothing that could be done until the following morning. Not even a mention or suggestion of transferring our rooms. Not to mention, if the engineer DID come and “plunge” or “snake” the tub were we supposed to just get in there without it being properly sanitized and cleaned?

Yuck! We had to suck it up. We checked out the following morning without a shower because we simply couldn’t bare the disgust again and left without showering. FYI, I’m the absolute last person to write a review but I expected more. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
