Excellent spot!

Harbor Court has an excellent location in downtown San Francisco. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The lobby is a great place to rest or meet up with others. Love the morning coffee and Friday night wine! Best weekend ❤️

Nice hotel but avoid the smallest rooms

by Jben999

Let me begin by emphasizing the good points of this hotel.
First, the location is fantastic! Right on the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building, and within easy walking distance of so many SF attractions, restaurants, and sights. Very convenient!
Second, it’s a small size boutique hotel that’s been recently remodeled with tasteful modern design and quality furniture and fixtures.
Third, the staff is first rate, friendly, helpful, and attentive, from the maids, to the porter, to the front desk.
Fourth, the place is well maintained and exceptionally clean. This includes the public areas, the guest rooms, front sidewalk, elevators, etc

Now for my complaint. The room we were assigned, #409, was ridiculously tiny, and should be removed from the hotel’s inventory. If it is ever rented it should be only to a solo traveler, with complete disclosure of its tiny size, and at a substantial discount. Per the emergency evacuation floor plan posted in the hall, #409 is by far the smallest room on the floor. Specifically, the room is just too small for two people. The queen bed dominates and there isn’t any place to sit or work. No chair, desk, sofa, or place for luggage storage. It’s a challenge for two people to be in the room at the same time. There is a tiny 16” wide closet but it’s too small even for one person, let alone storing luggage. If you try watching television your neck becomes sore because the flatscreen is mounted high, above the sliding barn door to the tiny bathroom. And, speaking of the (tiny) bathroom, there isn’t any counter space for your toothbrush, comb, etc. Finally, the compact toilet is located only 11 inches from, and perpendicular to the sink. This placement and clearance is insufficient and probably dangerous for large size adults to navigate. Finally, the room was quite dark, and illuminated only by the bullet style lamps next to the bed. To be fair, during the day, the windows provided ok light, although the “view” of the 3rd floor roof and ductwork was dismal.

It should be noted that our reservation for 2 people was made months in advance, as part of a small conference that had booked 18 rooms. Also, my husband and I checked in at 3:00 pm on a Thursday, so I assume larger rooms were likely available. I regret not speaking up and demanding that the hotel give us a larger room. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the hotel should never assign this room to a party of two.
