Overview

If you are visiting northern Maine’s Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor with your family, the Harborside Hotel & Marina is a great place to stay. Each of the hotel’s 187 rooms has a balcony, and most overlook beautiful Frenchman’s Bay. One-, two- and three-bedroom suites are available, some of which have full kitchens, dining rooms and Jacuzzis. The on-site La Bella Vita restaurant served breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers plenty of options for kids. Kids will love the blueberry pancakes and brick over pizzas. There is no kids program, but there is an outdoor pool and variety of activities available right at your doorstep. For a fee of $25 per day for adults and $10 for children families can get day passes at the adjacent Bar Harbor Club, which has an Oceanside pool and hot tub, clay tennis courts, a game room and pool bar.

Harbor / Pool view = Pool / Cruise ship view

by Bird_4321

Motel was great but every morning we woke up to a view of a new cruise ship sitting in the harbor. If I would've known this in advance I would have opt for the island view room. The location was prime and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Overpriced

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of October. We were rather taken aback by the girl on reception at check in. Having said that we had a reservation, she abruptly asked for our name, checked we were on her list and then said, "I need a photo ID and credit card." No welcome or friendly greeting at all.

We were upgraded to a water view room, which we were delighted with. It was spacious, modern and comfortable with a lovely bathroom. However, the duvet was very thin and we were cold the first night. Luckily we saw the housekeeper on our way out and asked for an extra blanket and she kindly left two. It would be a good idea for the rooms to have one or two extra blankets in the wardrobe so if guests get cold in the night, they can add coverings.

We ate in the restaurant the first night. The food was okay, but nothing special. The dining room is poorly lit so one can hardly see the food.
