It was the last 120 miles of a very long 2 week family vacation. We were on the home stretch to home. Then it happened. The engine light went on, the car stops suddenly and we coast to the side of the road. We call AAA, endure a tow truck ride into more +nearby Fort Collins, CO. We are now stranded at 1:00 in the morning, with no vehicle, tired hungry toddlers and the promise of home not likely for a few more days due to the holiday weekend. My mind is racing of a plan of what to do. Kids are crying in the back of the dead car, Daddy went to go make a food run and I was beside myself. I look up and like a beacon in the night, there was the red glowing sign of a nearby Hilton hotel. Immediately, I called information and got in touch with the hotel. They were our angels that night. They came in the shuttle bus and took all of us, our luggage and the dog too, back to the hotel. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. We were given a junior suite on one of the upper floors for a great rate. We were completely surprised by the room and how nice it was. After a great night's rest and a decision of were going nowhere quick, we decided to book the room for another 2 nights and redeem what was left of our vacation. It turned out to be the best part of all. The kids had a blast in the pool. We ate a nice meal inside the hotel. We were just walking distance to a Chucke Cheese. It turned out we were able to meet up with friends we hadn't seen for years and got to enjoy our daughters first sight of 4th of July fireworks in the local park.

What could of been a complete and total disaster of the end of our vacation, turned out to be the highlight after all. We are extremely grateful for the hospitality and professionalism of the staff at the Fort Collins Hilton. They lighted the way of a very dark and scary moment for a Colorado family desperate to get home.
