One of Hilton Head's oldest and most famous restaurants, Hudson's was originally established as an oyster processing facility in 1912 and evolved into a restaurant in 1968. It's also the island's largest eatery, offering 365 dining seats with views of the intercoastal waterway. If you want an extensive selection of seafood and great sunset views over the marsh, Hudson's is the place for you. It's open daily.

Kids tired of seafood? This island favorite is a great getaway for a nice brew (more than 600 choices) and simple kids' favorites like subs, calzones and, of course, pizza.

On the banks of the intercoastal waterway, the Old Fort Pub is named for the adjacent Civil War Battery, Fort Mitchel. Its setting is beautiful and features a dining porch framed by moss-draped oaks. The pub has been around for more than 35 years and is a favorite of Hilton Head regulars who come for the pub's "new south" cuisines.

If you haven't stumbled upon a Salty Dog Cafe T-shirt somewhere in your travels, well, we think you might either need glasses, or you need to get out more. The name is based on a local legend that tells the story of a dog who swam with his master three miles back to shore from their capsized boat. The Salty Dog has long attracted families for its casual setting and great food. The waterfront cafe has a full selection of seafood, salads and sandwiches, and kids are kept entertained with music, clowns and other activities.
