Reviews

Awesome place

by shannonp29709

This was our first time staying here and we loved it! The staff is super friendly and the room was very clean. The pool was nice and clean also. It is located in a good part of town with easy access to everything. I will stay here again.

Old style and awesome

by Michael C

We'd never stayed here before...but found this gem to be clean and the staff was excellent. We appreciate staying in old school hotels at the beaches we visit and Holiday Shores is just that. We have found a new home when visiting Myrtle. No more "big box" hotels for us.

Family Activities

Pool and Playground
Onsite, the inn features an outdoor swimming pool and a kiddie pool. The playground features a kiddie slide, swings and a sandbox full of toys.

Beach
The famed, sandy Myrtle beach is just a block away from the inn.

Wild Water and Wheels
The 16-acre water park has 24 slides, a lazy river, kiddie pool and snack bar, all within a short distance from Holiday Shores Motel. During a summer stay guests can receive free unlimited admission to the park. Some restrictions may apply and availability is subject to change.

Ocean Watersports
What's a vacation without some exciting water sport adventures? Ocean Watersports located on 3rd Avenue South offers a variety of activities including banana boating, parasailing and Jet Ski rentals. Soar through the air and see stunning views of the Grand Strand with parasailing, or take an exciting ride on the banana boat. The banana boat starts off at the beach and heads down the coast for gorgeous Myrtle Beach views. Two types of banana boat rides are available, ones that do not tip and ones that may require more balance and a chance to get wet. One hour and 30 minute Jet Ski rentals are also available. All participants must be 16 or older and will receive an orientation and instructional lesson before riding.

Family Dining

Although the Holiday Shores Motel doesn't offer an onsite restaurant or in-room dining services, there are plenty of dining options from which to choose. With more than 1,000 restaurants in the area, even the pickiest eaters will be satisfied. Below are just three of the nearby options.

River City Cafe
208 73rd Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 843-449-8877
Offering an assortment of American cuisine, families come to the River City Cafe for the kid-friendly atmosphere and best burgers on the beach. The kids' menu features chicken fingers, burgers, grilled cheese and hot dogs served with a side of applesauce or French fries. It's open for lunch and dinner only.

Medieval Times
2904 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, SC 866-543-9637
The Medieval Times dinner and tournament takes you back in time to the 11th century, with knights, kings, castles and jousting tournaments. Inspired by actual medieval traditions, this fun-filled dinner show invites families to feast and watch knights compete on horseback. Watch action-packed stunts, admire the costume craftsmanship and cheer on one of six knights competing in the skills and joust tournament. Enjoy the four-course meal consisting of roasted chicken, spare ribs, garlic bread, herb-basted potatoes, tomato soup and pastries. Vegetarian meals are available, along with a full-service bar for adult guests. Since eating utensils were not used in the 11th century, be prepared to get messy and eat with your hands. Seating is first come first served, so be sure to arrive early.

Sea Captain Restaurant
7200 North Ocean Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, SC 843-449-1368
For southern hospitality, some of the best seafood food around and oceanfront dining, head to the Sea Captain Restaurant. Families will enjoy a wide range of dishes. The breakfast menu consists of waffles, French toast, pancakes, omelets, grits, bacon and much more! Lunch and dinner menus offer a variety of sandwich dishes, seafood and salads.

A kids' menu is also available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Egg sandwiches, omelets pancakes and waffles are among the many breakfast dishes offered. The children's lunch and dinner menu feature cheeseburgers, seafood dishes, grilled cheese and the club special.

The Art of Smart Timing

Families looking for a more budget-friendly time to travel should consider vacationing in September or early spring when hotel rates drop significantly. Throughout September, families can still enjoy the warm weather and beach activities. After Labor Day, golfers travel to Myrtle Beach resorts in search for some of the best courses around. Some family attractions in the area also closed after Labor Day, and will reopen after Memorial Day when family travel picks back up.

Getting There
Located at the south end, the Myrtle Beach International Airport is within 20 minutes of most hotels and resorts. With a variety of airlines flying out of Myrtle Beach, families will find this transportation option easy. If you are flying into Myrtle Beach, definitely rent a car. There are a variety of must see family-attractions that you shouldn't miss!

Getting Around
If traveling by car better suits you, the Holiday Shores Motel offers free parking for guests. Local bus service is available by The Coast RTA with transportation to and from major thoroughfares and neighboring towns. Several car rental agencies, taxis and limo services are also available to take you where you need to be.

For Mom and Dad
There are more than 100 Myrtle Beach golf courses to choose from, if mom and dad want to spend a day on the Links without the kids. The resort concierge can recommend a course that suits your skill level.
