Main Dining Room
The dining room recalls an era when guests dressed in their best to dine and dance to live music. Although you won't see tuxedos, men are requested to wear jackets. A nice touch: the music still plays on.

During our meal, we watch a proud grandpa swirl his 6-year-old granddaughter in her ruffled dress, mothers step in tune with sons in sports coats and cousins, ages 8 and 9, sashay in time to every set the trio plays. The Main Dining Room is that kind of place.

The food, while pricey, is very good, as is the service. Our classic entree, sauteed mountain trout in lemon butter sauce, a Homestead staple for ages, proves delicious. Tasty as well is the seared black bass with chorizo and little neck clams in a saffron, fennel and lobster redux from the "New Classic" menu, options that debuted in summer 2010. With the split menu, those who come to the Homestead anticipating their favorite fare can enjoy their meal, as can those who are accustomed to innovative American cuisine. You can also mix and match, pairing a classic appetizer with a new classic entree.

Kids menus are available. The Homestead also serves a buffet breakfast every morning in the Main Dining Room.

The 1766 Grille
Located off the President's Lounge, the 1776 Grille serves French and American cuisine in a setting that's much smaller than the Main Dining Room, but still formal. Jackets are required for men.

Casino
While a formal meal is fun for one night, we like many families, head to the casual on-property Casino for other dinners. The menu offers flat bread pizzas, pasta, burgers, as well as a few pricier entrees such as grilled salmon and beef tenderloin tips. For those 12 and younger, the children's menu features hot dogs, grilled cheese, chicken tenders and burgers.
