Overview

If Sundance is full or just a little bit out of your budget, your family is not to be disappointed in the Homestead Resort and its sister property, the Zermatt, in nearby Midway. The Homestead hospitality dates to the 1860s when the Schneitter family would open up their home to hungry miners coming out of the mountains. It has slowly grown to an all-encompassing family resort for all seasons.

The Homestead is renowned for its comfort food and old-fashioned menu items — chicken and noodles, potpies, meatloaf, country fried steak and gravy are legendary dishes here. But you can also enjoy gluten-free and vegetarian options in a comfortable setting before a roaring fire. Families from throughout the region drive for several hours just to enjoy a meal at the Homestead.

Choose from a variety of lodging options from standard guestrooms to cottages and condos. The Family Garden Suite is perfect for up to six people. Ducks and geese roam the property, deer graze nearby and rabbits hide away under the flowering bushes. A spa, pool, game room and spacious grounds make this a lazy, relaxed setting for families to come together.

Brown film in tub

by kerby1967

We have stayed here a few times first time we had to be moved because the room had an over whelming smell of mold. Second and last time we stay at this resort. We stayed in there deluxe cabin. Furnishings are definitely dated! My wife wanted to take a bath in the jetted tub. When she turned the jets on the tub began to fill with a dark brown film that clung to everything. Needless to say showers were only used from then on. We were told a price at the desk when checking in, that was fine. But when the credit card bill showed the price had been increased, that was not. Make sure if you stay using a "package" golf, crater, romance what ever they offer remember two things. 1. Dont expect to use the tub and not be discussed with what comes out of it. 2. make sure that you watch that your price goes up by almost 175 dollars with out your knowledge. The restaurant that is in the resort, service was as issue for a later review. (poor at best)

The Crater

The room was clean and comfortable with a cozy spot for morning drinks. The staff was accommodating and helpful. The food is on the pricey side, but it is so good! and there are a ton of fun activities around town to enjoy.
