Yes, The Homestead is up a mountain and it is very pricey; however some times they make it worth it. It took us three hours to get to the resort from richmond, va. When you finally stop curving around the mountain, you are greeted by the wondrous more +site of The Homestead resort. Every aspect of the property is beautiful, inside and out. We were there for the Easter special which included a filled Easter basket, a wonderful breakfast buffet for four and a double room. We added a rollaway and it was fine, especially for $300. Also, all the special activities they offer are amazing. Free things included the Easter egg hunt, indoor heated pool, playground, pool ping-pong and foosball tables, and big open areas for running and playing kickball.

They had a ton of other activities for a price, some special for the weekend but many are always available. The older kids had fun at the kids club while we ate dinner out and the baby had a great sitter that they arranged.

The negatives were minimal. High tea didn't have great treats, and the line gets long. The outdoor ice skating rink was neat but was melting. The indoor pool is not very small child friendly. The stairs are very small and the shallow end was still deep for a five foot mom. And the biggest thing is overall it is still expensive. My kids wanted to stay and do more of the activities, but we just couldn't afford it.

Bottom line get in when they have a deal! It really is amazing.
