Accommodations at Hotel Nikko are top notch. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are modern/japanese in style. Very comfortable rooms. They have an indoor swimming pool which is falling to disrepair (the vinyl flooring is loose, causing large more +buckles across the whole pool) but it is very well heated (bath water?) and shallow (2-4 feet) making it a great place to take the kids on a rainy day.

The downside to this boutique hotel is that, aside from the pool, it has no kid-friendly amenities. (Not even so much as a vending machine to keep them occupied for a couple minutes!) The restaurant is Japanese Fusion, which means no kids meals to choose from, so even room service was off the plate, so to speak. Going out for all meals became very expensive, very quickly, but the hotel did provide a small refrigerator for milk and such.

We've stayed in this hotel for two years in a row but if we go back to San Fran again, we'll be searching out alternative accommodations that may make it a little easier on mom & dad!
