I spend a beautiful week with my boyfriend in Playa del Carmen and it was a pleasur to stay at this cozy place. The staff was really friendly and ready to help us out.
Also the breakfast was very good!
I can just recommend to stay at this place if you‘re planning on going to Playa del Carmen and would do it all over again.

One of Our Favorite Beaches!

We just returned from a one week stay Nov 02 - 09. This was our sixth trip to stay at a Riu in Playacar. What makes this place is the beach! We had beautiful weather with only a few rain showers. They have installed seaweed nets which really makes a huge difference. The last couple years we were unable to swim in the water due to the large amount of seaweed. It also made walking on the beach difficult. I am glad they solved this problem or we would have been looking for a new beach spot! We are not fans of the modern decor throughout the hotel and rooms. And the room layout is odd with no separation between the bed, bathtub and sink area. It is impossible to use the bathroom during the night without waking the other person. We also found this property to be unusually loud. Walls are thin between rooms and we had a crying baby next door the first two days and nights. Thankfully they checked out after that. Also the doors are right on the hallway so you can hear anyone passing by and talking or rolling their suitcases at any time of the night or morning. Also the music from the evening entertainment area could be heard from inside our room. It is usually done by 10 pm or so. If you have small children you will need to get them to sleep before the music starts! I always travel with ear plugs and I was glad I had them!! Overall the personal service here was not what we are used to from other Riu properties. From room cleaning to waiters at meals we were disappointed. We found a couple waiters that were quite attentive so we always tried to sit where they were working. We will be going back to Riu Palace Riveria Maya next year (it was closed for renovations). I am not sure we would return to Riu Palace Mexico mainly because of the disappointing service and the noisy room.
