Lives up to Rustic and Modern

by Rachelld66

What a treat to stay at this beautiful property. As soon as you set foot in the lobby you know you are not at an ordinary hotel-great art, bikes in the lobby to borrow, lots of local touches and textures. Check in was a breeze. The rooms have lots of unusual design and decor elements including sliding doors for the bathroom, indirect lighting under the bed, local textiles and appointments. The bed and bedding made for a great night sleep in the quiet guest floors. Each room has a carafe for water that can be filled with still or sparkling water from the dispenser in the hallway. The staff is friendly and helpful with everything from making sure you have all you need to answering the question about whether or not the chamomile tea is decaf-which it is! The location is fantastic-close to Church St. shopping and dining, Lake Champlain and the Burlington Greenbelt. Next time I come I hope to stay longer!!

New Style but Still Felt Homey

by JillBrammer

We planned a last minute trip to see fall leaves and found a room at the Hotel Vermont. I wanted to stay at a cute B&B or Inn but the hotel was in such a good spot and was so nice that I was happy we stayed there. They put on cider donuts or Vermont cheeses and crackers in the warm ad cozy lobby daily and they have bicycles to take to ride around the Lake Champlain bike path. We definitely would return to Burlington and stay here!

Family Activities

Bikes
Hotel Vermont offers bicycle rentals, with a few smaller bikes available for kids. Some bikes are free to borrow, while upgraded bikes are available for $10. Bikes are available for two hours and can be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. If traveling with babies or toddlers, it's recommended you bring your own carriers or trailers.

Family Dining

Juniper
Like many restaurants in the area, Juniper features farm-to-table cuisine for breakfast, lunch, dinner and on Sundays, brunch. The upscale restaurant also offers a late-night menu on weekends, and on Wednesdays, there's live jazz. While it's not a place we'd recommend for families, kids are welcome.

You might also consider Bleu, located at the Courtyard Burlington Harbor next door. (Both hotels are managed by the same company).

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is complimentary to all guests of the Hotel Vermont.

Fitness Center
Hotel Vermont has a fairly extensive fitness center with cardiovascular machines and basic strength training equipment (complimentary). There's also a small yoga studio, with daily classes offered for $20 (60 minutes).

Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in time is 3 p.m., with check-out at noon.

The Art of Smart Timing
While Burlington is a college town and bustles with activity throughout the year, it's just as popular (if not more popular) in the summer, when travelers come to the area to enjoy its location on Lake Champlain.

Getting There
If you're planning to fly to Burlington, your best bet for an airport is Montreal-Pierre Elliott International Airport in Canada (about two hours away) or Albany International Airport (three-hour drive).

Getting Around
It's easy to walk to Church Street Marketplace (5-minute flat walk) and the Burlington Waterfront (10-minute walk, though very hilly on the way back). But you'll still want a car to explore other areas of the scenic Lake Champlain Byway.

Parking
Parking is available in a garage adjacent to the hotel for a nominal fee.

For Mom and Dad
Walk next door to Hen of the Wood for refreshing cocktails and small plates in an upscale, romantic setting. Afterward, stroll along the waterfront to watch the sun set over Lake Champlain.

You might also consider a massage. While the hotel doesn't offer a spa, it works with Blissful Healing Massage to provide services -- including Swedish and deep tissue massages -- to guests of the hotel.
