I-10 & ShepherdHouston, TX 713-862-2020
A local institution for more than 25 years, Cadillac Bar has welcomed the likes of former president George Bush, Elton John and ZZTop, among others. Servers will make guacamole right at your table, and you can enjoy quesadillas, tamales, fajitas, chimichanga, burritos, enchiladas and more of your favorite Tex-Mex dishes.
410 Bagby StHouston, TX 713-223-3474
Open 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. (until 11 p.m. on weekends), you'll dine around the 150,000-gallon aquarium in open view of the glass walls where colorful fish and winged rays glide by. Seafood, of course (if not ironically), the restaurant's specialty, but you'll also find chicken, steak, pasta and salads on the menu. A children's menu also serves up corn dogs, fish sticks, burgers, pizza and pasta.
1201 San JacintoHouston, TX 713-650-0101
Pull up a seat at this "hacienda" and sit beneath the colorful twinkling lights for some of Houston's best Mexican food, serving up fajitas, enchiladas, tacos and salads. A kids' menu provides less risky choices for the picky, and the chain also has locations in the Woodlands, the Inner Loop and West Houston.
6025 Westheimer RoadHouston, TX 713-785-6700
For good Southwestern food served fast -- combined with a hint of Philadelphia! -- you'll find cheese steak selections, as well as the perfect kid-tested queso dip for chips and salsa. Burgers, sandwiches and salads round out the menu. There are three other Houston locations, so pop in if you stumble upon one for lunch or dinner.
