We stayed here twice in the summer of 2008 while my husband had business meetings there. The hotel is a beautiful lodge-type facility. Huge woodburning fireplace in the lobby, lots of comfy leather chairs around, etc. The staff were very friendly
more +and helpful on both occasions. We stayed in an executive level corner room, which was very spacious and provided plenty of room for two small kids to play on the floor.
They have a gorgeous outdoor environment! The pool area is large, with a pool that starts indoors (for winter, I suppose) and leads to a large outdoor pool that was in high use by kids. Lots of comfy lounge chairs about for supervision. They also have a separate tot pool that is very shallow and great for kids under three or so. Scattered about the complex are great fire pits; you can get a smores kit (or bring your own) and sit and roast marshmallows at night. Our kids loved it! Across the street from the hotel complex is their private beach along with a terrific waterfront restaurant (fabulous brunch buffet and quite good for dinner as well). If we were to stay again, I would seriously consider one of the villas they have along the beach. These are two story buildings with two (and maybe three?) bedroom villas with complete kitchens, etc. Very swanky and perfect location to go out and play on the nice beach. Also lots of water equipment to rent if you wanted.
In addition to their waterfront restaurant, we ate several times in the hotel restaurant on the first floor of the main hotel. Another fabulous buffet and very family friendly. Staff in the restaurants and all over the hotel were so welcoming, understanding about special requests, and generally adoring of our kids. Also, while they do have a small casino off the lobby, it really does not affect the environment at all. It is very discreet and quiet...I don't think our kids even noticed it! Although someone did win some huge sum (maybe $30k?) while we were there and we were envious!
Really a great place for a family vacation! On our second trip my sister and 9 year old nephew accompanied us, and he had as much fun as my kids who were a toddler and preschooler. Oh, they also had movie night at the pool which was a blast! They put up a big screen, hand out warm blankets and everyone curls up on lounge chairs with popcorn to watch a recent movie. We will definitely return next time we want a Tahoe vacation.
