You won't starve at Iberostar Cozumel, but for the most part, the food is average. The three specialty restaurants offer table service, serving Mexican, steak and international cuisine. The number of specialty restaurant dinners you are guaranteed depends upon the length of your stay. At this property, a seven night booking gets you two specialty restaurant dinners and a five night booking, one. When space is available, you can request more sittings. Thoughtfully, the specialty restaurants offer a children's menu of hamburgers, chicken fingers and other such items. Iberostar Cozumel does not offer room service.
Cozumel International Buffet Restaurant
The main dining area, although large, is pleasantly decorated with rattan chairs and netted to keep out the birds. The best bets at the brunch and dinner buffets are the freshly grilled items such as burgers, hot dogs, chicken and fish. Salads and appetizers are always offered. The buffet is open for breakfast and dinner, from 6 to 10 a.m. and from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
El Cedral Beach Restaurant
A diverse Continental breakfast buffet is open for about two hours starting at 10 a.m. at El Cedral Beach. Guests choose from a variety of fresh fruit and seafood dishes. Kids will appreciate the deserts and sweet, breakfast favorites. Lunch runs from noon to 4 p.m.
El Cedral Steak House
In the evening, the poolside buffet restaurant turns into El Cedral, the Steak House. You help yourself to such cold appetizers as salad, crab, and mushrooms and a waiter brings your entree. Choices include sirloin, rib eye and tenderloin steak as well as pork chops, grilled chicken and a fish of the day. The waiters try hard and after days of buffets, table service feels like a luxury. Our steak, however, was more tough than tender. El Cedral also serves snacks from mid-morning until dinnertime.
Star Rock Cafe Restaurant
This a la carte restaurant offers a range of meat and veggie dishes. A variety of appetizers are also on the menu. Star Rock Cafe is open for dinner only and starts serving at 6:30 p.m. In the evening, the restaurant turns into a disco and keeps guests dancing late into the night.
