Iceland tourism is booming, with many Americans listing the small European island as a destination they would like to visit within the next five years. New airlines are making it even easier to visit, with Icelandic Air (not new) providing "layover" flights to Iceland, where travelers heading to England or Europe can squeeze in short Iceland tours. Norwegian has also launched inexpensive flights. The flight time is just five hours from New York, and the island is small enough to give visitors a glimpse at its unique and gorgeous landscape in a short amount of time.

The most visited attractions include the Blue Lagoon, waterfalls and geysers, with a chance to see the Northern Lights in the winter months. It is possible to visit Iceland in just two days, but those who have spent more time on the island will wax poetic about many additional landscapes that are not to be missed if you can spend more time here. An Iceland vacation is certainly one your kids will never forget.
