Coulonge - Jul 5th, 2010
We spent ten days at Jaguar Reef Lodge and there was so much my kids talk about three months on - the employees with million candle watt smiles, full of laughter and fun, the reef where we snorkeled, the Jaguar preserve where we saw cutter ants for more +the first time, kayaking up the Sittee River, seeing howler monkeys, iguana, and a million birds. But the part that stayed with them is our visits to the Indian Creek Mayan village where the Mayan kids proudly showed them their homes and how they lived. This and our bike rides in to the Garifuna village of Hopkins showed our kids that the rest of the world lives very differently from the way we do in North America. But happy! Whee! Our kids took books down for the school and have a lifetime lesson on how much we take for granted. A great location for kids of all ages, and a learning experience for our pampered two.
