Overview

Formerly Fairmont Kenauk at Le Chateau Montebello, Kenauk Nature offers just what the name implies — a chance to enjoy the great outdoors. Popular activities include Land Rover Experiences and Wilderness Adventures. Fishing and clay shooting are also part of the fun, as is Whitefish Lake Picnic Area, where you can hike, canoe or kayak, and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Accommodations include secluded chalets with anywhere from one to six bedrooms (for a maximum of 18 guests per chalet). They include fully equipped kitchens with refrigerators, plus outdoor grills. All cabins are powered by solar energy — guests are practically off the grid (though Wi-Fi is available in the entrance building).

When it’s time to eat, guests can utilize their chalet kitchens or head to the nearby Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello, where breakfast, lunch, dinner and a top-notch Sunday Brunch are served. Other nearby businesses include a spa, golf course and shops.

Great trout fishing lakes!

by WantMoneysWorth

I've been returning to Kenauk usually twice annually for more than 10 years, and it's always great fishing on the many Quebec-mountain lakes. Just an hour from Ottawa! The chalets are perfect - rustic, gas-fired, with wood stove, fridge, oven, kitchen with dishes and all utensils, and good hot showers, with no electricity, but great for a weekend getaway without cellphones or internet. There's also a BBQ at each chalet for grilling your fresh catch! There is some cell coverage at various points throughout the Reserve. The huge new chalets are amazing too, with electricity provided by massive quiet generators. Accommodation fees are a bit expensive, and I wish they had daily fishing rates reserved for some lakes without having to rent a chalet for 2 nights. But overall, we'll definitely keep coming back to Kenauk!

A fall classic.

We just came back from our stay at the relocated Commandant chalet on lake Papineau. It is beautifully restored with a touch of modern and the perfect size chalet for two or three. What a gorgeous location and a wonderful and relaxing way to spend time in nature. We also had the floating sauna for the duration of our stay. Once you get it heated up, you just keep adding wood logs. We especially enjoyed the relaxing sun bed which is part of the floating sauna, to relax during the warm afternoons in the quiet bay. We felt like we were at our own private spa as we spent quality time in nature with the beautiful fall colors as a backdrop. A classic, yet modern chalet that we will definitely come back to again.
