Las Vegas Family Vacations
Families will love:
  • Budget-friendly family vacationing
  • Hiking, horseback riding or driving through the natural beauty of Red Rock Canyon
  • The world's highest roller coaster

A city that prides itself on its "Sin City" nickname may not exactly seem like the place to bring your preschooler. With its heady mix of casinos, cocktails and clubbing, Las Vegas is often billed as a place to escape from the pressures and responsibilities of parenthood. (And that's why you'll often find cadres of kid-free moms chilling in the cabanas at any of the resorts on the strip.)

But once you move beyond the poker and the partying, this desert oasis offers plenty of wonderful, kid-friendly things to do and see. It's a town built for fun and thrills -- whether you want to gawk and gape at the spectacles every resort plants at its entrance or scream your way through a ride on the world's highest roller coaster. Or, if you want adventures that are a little lighter on the glitz and glamour, you can hike, horseback ride or even drive through the breathtaking natural beauty of the red rocks just outside of town.

And with the ultracheap airfares and bargain-basement rooms often offered in Vegas, this can also be a relatively inexpensive getaway for you and your kids. (Especially since you'll likely have little time to hit the slots with your small fry in tow.) Here's how to play your cards right -- and book yourself a stellar adventure.
