Pure Luxury

by EPaul1961

Great location for a luxury hotel, has its own part of the beach where the staff look after your every need, no need to move unless you want to. Great pool the bartender was so friendly as were all of the staff. Rooms are well appointed our only regret was having just two nights would most definitely return and recommend

Third time - eventually lucky

Returning from the UK we had contacted the resort to ask for a kettle in the room and as we were staying for a week room on a high floor if possible to make the most of the Gulf view from the balcony. Having booked in January but having had email communication in September we assumed our request had been considered and hopefully dealt with.
We checked in on a very busy Sunday to be told we were on the 9th floor and when I asked if there was anything on a higher floor I was told that there was no option to move us anywhere that night and maybe not for the whole stay. We reluctantly had to accept this for that night and were shown to our room.
The room was immediately above the pool area where loud music was being played the view from the bedroom was of two walls either side and small opening to the ocean and once we viewed the bathroom we realised we were in a mobility accessible suite with no bath. The bathroom was the most depressing space imaginable and nothing like the normal bathrooms. It was very dark and dreary. No sign of the kettle either!!
I immediately went down to reception to say that we found the room unacceptable especially as we were going to be in it for seven nights. Nothing else was available but the staff promised to look into it with reservations the following morning and contact us with an update as we were going out first thing that morning.
Despite checking for an email or call for them most of the following day we heard nothing so we had to raise it again with reception when we returned late the following afternoon and the staff repeatedly told us how busy the resort was that week and how difficult it would be to move us.
After an hours wait we were told that a room had been found on the 12th floor which we accepted. We will always be grateful to Joana who worked extremely hard on our behalf to ensure that we were eventually satisfied with the room and enjoyed our stay. It was most noticeable that despite the Management being aware of the issues no-one ventured out of their office to offer any form of apologies for our distress and dissatisfaction . We did feel somewhat that as we were foreign visitors we could be put in the worst room and hopefully not complain.
During the next few days we learned that there were a lot of U.S. guests who were attending various conferences and it appeared to us that they had been allocated some of the best rooms despite the fact that they were there for a short stay and spent very little time in their rooms. We on the other hand spent hours on the balcony enjoying the view and relaxing.
We did however eventually relax and enjoy our stay and are still of the opinion that MBOR is in a brilliant location the rooms are clean and well serviced and the regular bathrooms spacious and bright. We would consider returning but would definitely speak with reservations by telephone to ensure that they could meet our requirements without causing us the distress that we experienced this year.
Once again thanks to Joana for her persistence in relocating us to a more suitable room and to those travellers requiring mobility accessible suites check out your bathroom and don't accept anything less than the best.
