We stayed at the Wyndham hotel in National Harbor (Washington DC)with our two grand sons. We're not old but they can wear you out just from their normal kid to kid stuff and this trip would have been a disaster with out the good graces that my wife had to book us into the Wyndham at National Harbor. It's a time share so there is the ubiquitous sales pitch which we ignored and they politely let us ignore. What we liked about this location was that 1) close to DC 2) great things for boys to do (Wii, Swimming, other video games) 3) safe enviornment 4) good staff 5)great local restaurants with a discount card that the resort provided gratis. All the restaurants were walking distance from the hotel so it was no major work after a day of seeing DC to get food.
DC is a great place for kids but it always depends on the age. The boys (age 10) loved the Air and Space museum, Museum of American History (all cars, trucks, boats, war stuff, historical flags and more) and the monuments-Washington, Lincoln, Korean and WWII. They all jumped out and walked over to see the White House while I cruised the local boulevards. Easy hop in and out. There was one highlight the boys will always remember--the Spy Museum in DC. There were miniature cameras, listening devices, stories, role playing and more. Great time at this museum--our second time--first was with my older teenage daughter once before. Fascinating histories and devices.
Thanks DC for a great time!
Washington DC with Grandkids----no kidding
