Date of Stay: 07/04/2007
Destination: Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. was the family vacation destination on the 4Th of July - and the fireworks were amazing! Our 11 year old son kept asking "Is this the finale?", "Is this the finale?" because the small town we live in would only have that kind of fireworks display at the finale! If you haven't been there to see it for yourself, then you are missing out on one of the best family vacations possible. One of our favorite places to visit was the new Smithsonian American Indian museum - we could have spent days there. The restaurant inside featured unusual and delicious indigenous foods from various regional tribes across the U.S. There is so much to see and do in D.C. and with such an easy & fast mass transportation system we didn't need a rental car to get around. After our visit to Mt. Vernon, The Capitol, and Arlington National Cemetery and other historic sites in the area our children have a greater appreciation and much more pride in being American citizens.
