This year's trip I decided to do the East Coast Tour. The people traveling includes our family, grandparents & my brothers family so there were 15 in total ages 9-69. I have 3 boys ages 11, 12 & 14. They are really into baseball so the main highlight was going to a baseball game in each city. This was actually very key to the trip. My 12 year old does not like to study history so he said everything but the history was good on the trip. Plus we are from California and thought that going early in June would give us a little better weather but it was still HOT & HUMID! Our trip started in Boston and Boston is my favorite city so I was really looking forward to going there. We stayed at the Lenox Hotel in Back Bay which was great. They had complimentary coffee in the morning and lemonade and cookies in the afternoon. I definitely recommend Back Bay area to stay in. It is close to everything. We could walk to Fenway and the Freedom Trail, Boston Common, etc. The hotel was very comfortable and they gave my 11 year old a stuffed eagle when we got there, it was very cute. We also did the Duck Tour which I highly recommend.

After Boston we took the train to New York. We took the trains everywhere and they were definitely a highlight to the trip. It is VERY convenient and cost effective to take the trains. This was our 2nd time going taking the kids to New York so we only stayed 2 nights. We had already done all the touristy stuff so this trip the kids saw a Yankees game in the new stadium and also went to Top of the Rock. Our 11 year olds favorite place in the world is Nintendo World so of course he had to go there every day. We always stay at the New York Palace hotel. It is very convenient to everything, this is also the place where I do laundry as I know where the laundromat is here! We also visit Dylan's Candy Bar which is a highlight.

We then went to Philly. Now granted Philly isn't the cleanest city in the world but definitely worth a one night stay. We stayed at the Hotel Sofitel which I cannot recommend enough. We LOVED this hotel. Our rooms and bathroom were very large and comfortable, the bar was great as well as the restaurant. We could walk to the historic section which I was VERY impressed with. We went to the Mint, Constitution Hall (highly recommend the movie!), Betsy Ross' House (very cute!), Liberty Bell and we were too late to get tickets for Independence Hall so I recommend doing that early. It is definitely worth a day stop. We also saw a Phillies game which I thought was probably the best stadium we went to. We could see all of downtown Philly from our seats and I just thought it was a really cool place.

After Philly was our last stop in DC. It was VERY hot and humid here. We stayed at the Lombardy Hotel which I was a little worried about but actually turned out really well. The rooms were spacious and it was a great location. We could walk to Georgetown, the White House and the metro. There was a Baja Fresh, Johnny Rockets and cafe for breakfast all across the street. It was a reasonable hotel for the location. My boys liked the Air & Space Museum and seeing the Library of Congress where National Treasure 2 was filmed.

Overall it was a great trip and highly recommend for this age group.
