My family, myself, husband and mentally challenged son went to Los Angeles for the birth of our grandson. We stayed at the Su Casa on Venice Beach. The weather was gorgeous, the staff excellent and accommodating and the variety of activities boundless. Our grandson waited until the day we arrived, March 17th St. Patricks day, to come into the world.

They were filming NCIS - Legends, the new NCIS off-shot of NCIS. We watched and learned how tedious a job acting and filming really is. I even had my picture taken with Chris O'Donnell! We walked the boardwalk and saw all the vendors and the different variety of people who live or visit Venice Beach. Each morning we would walk into town and have breakfast in our own little cafe. The sand and surf were at our doorsteps in the afternoon and evening. Santa Monica pier was a thrill to enjoy - rides and shops and more interesting people. The architecture of the homes on the Venice boardwalk were so interesting with wolves carved out of stone on the edges of windows - dolphins at sea painted onto the side of building (our son had his picture taken by one and it looked so real) - new and different kinds of flowers all around, and a mini Venice like the one overseas. You could see the work that Los Angeles put into making this a family friendly and eco-friendly environment.

Not far away was the big city of Los Angeles with a myriad of restaurants and shops. All the restaurants had excellent food. I think the most amazing thing to me was how courteous the drivers were. Whenever we were at a crosswalk, they would all stop and let us walk and they did so gladly. Out in traffic, no one tried to cut you off, they all let you in when you put your turn signal on. It was a very safe experience. Everyone was so cordial - I nominate Venice Beach/Los Angeles for the most friendly city in the US. We certainly enjoyed our week stay. The only thing wrong with our stay was that it wasn't long enough!
