![]() | Downhill Ruckus 6336 West Highway 54 Osage Beach, MO • 573-348-1979 If you're familiar with the Zorb concept, that's what this is -- a large inflatable ball filled with a person or two rolling down a hill. Obviously, this is for your older, more adventurous children. You have the option to roll with another person in a harness or splash around in water as you roll downhill. No one under 8 years old can ride, but it's a lot of fun to watch. Best For: Kids (7-9)•Tweens (10-12)•Teens (13+) |
![]() | Main Street Music Hall 1048 Main Street Osage Beach, MO • 573-348-9500 Very much a family-friendly show, the Main Street Music Hall offers comedy, country, gospel and a little bit of everything based on your family's preferences. The sets are bright and energetic and the acts equally entertaining for children of all ages. And thankfully, they won't be required to sit still the whole time. Main Street Music Hall is open May through October and again with a special holiday show beginning in late November. Best For: Kids (7-9)•Tweens (10-12)•Teens (13+) |
![]() | Missouri Show Caves Lake of the Ozarks, MO There are three show caves in the Lakes region located within 30 miles of one another. They are always cool, about 53 degrees, so bring jackets for the children. Although the caves are lit, there are dark corners and occasionally the guides turn off the lights for effect. Bridal Caves Considered one of the three most scenic caves in the United States, Bridal Cave combines a lesson in earth science with a lesson in Native American culture. It is the site of a legendary Indian wedding ceremony held in the early 1800s. More than 2,000 couples have been married in the cave's breathtaking Bridal Chapel. The cave is also accessible by boat at Mile Marker 10 on the Niangua Arm of the Lake and is located two miles north of Camdenton on Highway 5. Jacob's Cave Located on Highway 5 between Versailles and Gravois Mills at State Road TT, this is the largest cave in the area and the only walk-through cave in Missouri that is wheelchair or stroller accessible. Jacob's Cave features the world's largest geode, reflective pools, musical stalactites, prehistoric mastodon bones and unusual straw-like formations. The rock shop features a black-light rock display, along with native minerals, crystals and geodes. Ozark Caverns Kids will have fun carrying their own handheld battery-operated lanterns on a tour that shows off, among other things, Angel's Shower, a continual flow of water that falls from the rock ceiling into two massive stone basins below. In the summer months, the state offers tours specially designed for children five and above. Best For: Tweens (10-12)•Teens (13+) |
![]() | Orion Science Center & Dino Space Adventure 1163 South Business Hwy 5 Camdenton, MO • 573-346-5516 It's not often that the Missouri Ozarks and Rocket Science are found in the same sentence, but sure enough, kids can learn about rocket science, as well as paleontology, volcanic activity and more at the Orion Science Center. Part science center, part theme park, this place offers indoor and outdoor activities for kids of all ages, and week-long day camps in the summer, that includes zip-lining, digging for fossils, stargazing and the mandatory "blow things up" category of fun.
