Mohonk Mountain House has been the highlight oh my familie's year for the past 15 years. We go for a week during the summer every year. We go with my entire family, meaning about 24 people.
When we wake up in the morning the beds are
more +comfortable and you almost don''t want to get out of them, but then we always realize that we will have TONS of fun that day, so we go to get breakfast. The kids usually get a huge plate of anything that they could possibly imagine. The adults do the same thing.
Once the children are dropped off in the camp, where tey engage in fun activities, the adults are free to explore the rest of the castle and the grounds that surround it. The lake is beautiful and just recently, they added kayaks to the list of boats that you can take out. (you can also take paddle boats, row boats, etc.)
Then, you pick up the kids and go to lunch, maybe at the granary, which is a large outdoor picnic. They have a huge buffet where everyone gets their food and drinks, and then you go to sit at one of the picnic tables where you can see the mountain sides. After being in the safety of the shade from the trees, you can go eat an ice cream from the booth that they always have set up to get rid of any excess heat that you may have had in your body.
After lunch, everyone needs a nap, so you go up to your room and through the fun hallways that stretch on forever. The kids really enjoy them because they can go fast down them and still be in a familiar place. Once everyone is rested, we head out for a hike or maybe a swin in the pool. When it reaches 4 o'clock, it's tea time!!!! The cookies just melt in your mouth! And the homemade tea/coffee is amazing!
And just when you think all of the eating is over, dinner comes! We all rush up to our rooms for a bath. We all get into our fancy clothes and run to eat dinner with the whole family! And that is the best part of the day. The kids love dessert as well because it has so many different things that are all so colorful. YUM! And after this eventful day, everyone can go lie down in their beds that are so very comfortable.
