Overview

Only 11 miles from Killington is that quintessential Vermont property you’ve dreamed about, the one that sits atop a ridge with spectacular views of surrounding mountains and a lake. In winter, you can cross-country ski on 40 km of groomed trails or go snowshoeing on a 1.5-mile loop. There’s also the opportunity to dogsled, snowmobile, or be on the back of a horse-drawn sleigh ride. In summer, a children’s camp teaches kids to horseback ride from the inn’s stables. Mountain biking, playing tennis on the resort’s courses, and canoeing on pristine lakes and ponds are other options. For families, Mountain Top offers a slew of chalets, two- to five-bedroom homes with full kitchens and more than enough space to stretch out in.

Reviews

13 years of enjoyment

by 2-going-nomad

First, negative reviews sadden us. We wish guests could have experienced Mt Top the way we always have, with warm, friendly staff who address/resolve any issues that arise. We hope you folks have happier travels.
Since 2006, our immediate family of 5, plus 4 Goldens and 1 mini dachshund, has looked forward to every getaway. Several times, other family members have joined us. We have stayed at the retired Horseshoe Ridge across from the barn, the cabins, Campion, Dewberry, Grand Vista, and Trillium because they're all pet-friendly.
So, we can't speak to rooms in the lodge. Maybe one day. But, first, we'll read the reviews ;)
We have stayed during all of the seasons, including mud season, and enjoyed just about all of the seasonal activities, including the discontinued snow tubing and dog sledding. I recall the skeet machine being broken, so we took a pontoon boat ride.
Will follow up on skeet shooting. We have been here during various holidays and weddings. We really can't think of anything that has dampened a stay, not even a wedding party in the tavern restricting access. Notices are posted; we're flexible to have a meal in the house, or go off premises. As a
family including pups, we've also realized these stays are comparable to our other vacations in basic costs. We continue to appreciate everyone we meet: the helpful front desk clerks, housekeeping [I don't have to bring linens/towels- not even for the beach], restaurant servers [bartender/Vermontini], grounds keepers [hot tubs, poop bags, snow shovel], activities coordinators, and masseuses. Next year, 15 relatives [some repeat guests, some new] will join us during 2 getaways. To end, heartfelt thanks to Mike for making the 65th birthday plans to include extended family, a reality.

Truly Deplorable Customer Service

by Caroline H

I have never in my life dealt with such wildly incompetent customer service. I was a guest at a wedding, booked a room, and then ended up cancelling in lieu of a different (more expensive) property on the resort. To do this, I had to call multiple times, and have a long email thread confirming this cancellation- which was a huge pain to do in and of itself. The $400 was never refunded. I called multiple times about this issue, only to be told I was wrong- they denied the cancellation ever happened and refused to refund the money- despite the paper trail where it was acknowledged in writing that the room was cancelled. I let a message with the manager, received no response. I then got my bank involved. The bank waived the charge, but now I've learned Mountain Top Inn is fighting the bank to reinstate the charge. What you are doing is criminal. You shouldn't be allowed to operate a business.
