Corn mazes have become a staple of fall, and now, an orchard in Illinois has created a one-of-a-kind apple tree maze. The newly opened Amaze ‘N Apples at Royal Oak Farm Orchard in Harvard, Illinois, is a 5-acre, 1.5-mile maze shaped like an apple and created entirely out of more than 2,500 apple trees.
The new maze features nine apple varieties of apples in aisles of widths of 8 to 12 feet. Families are welcome to pick apples while moving through the maze. Guests can walk the maze for $6, and enjoy the 120-acre orchard’s other fall fun, including orchard tours, petting zoo, playground, a carousel, a fun train, hayrides, bonfires and plenty of apple picking.
The orchard, near the Illinois and Wisconsin border, is open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through August, and then remains open until 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays from September 1 through October 31.
