A place to unwind and enjoy the city

by dplude2019

Fabulous location near Central Park and close to LeVain and Daily provisions for foodie eats and treats. My daughter and I and are 2 fur babies enjoyed true hospitality at Arthouse and that is why we’ll be back.

Good location

I love the Upper West Side in the 70's. I booked the Arthouse, as my go-to staple on my frequent visits, the Beacon, was sold out. The Arthouse is good, but not quite as good. Staff are very helpful and accommodating. Valet parking went well. The room was small even for New York. Perhaps had I gotten a Queen or two Doubles instead of a King, I would have had more room. So while there was a desk chair, there was no room for an easy chair in what's supposed to be a Superior room, and it was difficult to maneuver around the room. There's a safe, but it's located down at the floor level next to the bed, so you have to bend down on hands and knees to operate it. There was a closet, so why not put it there where you could reach it? No recycling bin in the room for plastic or paper. No toilet paper dispenser, just a roll on a hook or knob. No grab bar in the shower. The bathroom did have lots of room for toiletries and stuff. Lighting in the room was very good. The lobby is spacious with lots of sitting areas and a bar. The hotel slaps on a resort fee of $39 a day that they call an "Urban Fee," that includes simple things like water and internet access. I mean, come on! Note: I had the address on Broadway and was driving around looking for the entrance, but they don't tell you the entrance and valet parking are actually on 77th Street, not Broadway.
