Went to Occidental's 3* Allegro Playa Grande in Dominican Republic. Beautiful golf course on the Atlantic Ocean. Not overcrowded. Awesome Beach that many 4* hotels sent their guests up to for day trips. The water was rough most of the time so more +swimming was limited but the days we were able to go in, it was great. Lot's of waves and fun!! Rooms were nice! Meals okay.

Had karaoke on Wednesday nights where everyone who wanted could get up and sing a solo or two. No bank machine though so you need to bring cash, despite what your travel agent tells you!!! We found out the hard way. Offered many day trips. We went out on a day trip snorkeling but found that unless you could dive 30 feet down under you couldn't see much (fish were 1" long from on top of the water, and underwater terrain wasn't very scenic out in the middle of the ocean & currents were strong!!), and pack your gravol!! Also went out on a day trip exploring the countryside. That was phenomenal!!! Highly recommended but bring cash (small denominations of bills)although they will tell you you don't need to. Got to see homes, schools, cocoa being harvested and available for sale, waterfalls, it was great!!

Bring lots of American Dollars. If you only have a dollar, it is amazing what you can buy with it. No one is going to give you change so I would recommend many, many, $1 bills for shopping. Nothing higher than $5 or $10 for shopping because you won't get change back!

Used the in room safe. No problems!! More adult oriented with the huge golf course. Not many children there. Enjoy!!!

Cozumel is already a hidden treasure. Allegro is just the superfluous cherry on top!
Allegro had rooms that were clean, safe, adequate, and comfortable. The staff is wonderful, the people friendly, food amazing, beaches are gorgeous! You more +will be making memories in a special place together that will last forever!
