If you have seen your friends posting pictures on a recent vacation where they are climbing waterfalls in the Caribbean, this is the place. Ocho Rios, about an hour and a half east of Montego Bay, is home to the famous Dunn's River Falls, where visitors clamor up a low, rocky waterfall. But Ocho Rios is so much more than its waterfall. Smaller than Montego Bay, it provides a city charm alongside its more rustic and athletic pursuits. Its straw market is one of the largest on the islands, and its hiking areas feature more than one waterfall and swimming hole, so visitors can enjoy the island's splendors without all of the crowds -- you just have to look!

Ocho Rios is also home to a mixture of accommodations. Guests can find villa rentals and all-inclusive resorts, electing to have more intimate, island-life escapes to the the activity-packed, large-scale resorts where kids and adults will leave with many new friendships formed.

The area is also home to some of the island's best dining, where families can enjoy Jamaican cuisine in gorgeous settings. And, like Montego Bay, the area is heavily populated with tourists and families can feel safe in this area of the island, where rain forests and turquoise water-lined beaches collide.
