We've gone to Ohana Camp for each of the past three years. Your price comes with everything included: meals, accommodations, and camp activities. They have most of your favorite camp activities: canoes, kayaks, sailboats, fishing, archery, sports, more +arts & crafts, woodcarving, etc. Each morning there are two sessions of activities and the staff leading them is great. The afternoons are free and we spent them mainly on the lake boating and swimming or else taking short day trips.

The evening activities are also great for the family: cookouts, storytellers, contra dancing. Did I mention the food?

What makes the place special is the staff. Without great people, this place could simply be Club Med on a Lake, but Andy and Deb and the whole staff are so welcoming and manage to build a community of families in a single week.

The platform tents are very comfortable and provide a more affordable way to enjoy camp than the cabins, if price is an issue.

We spent a week at the beautiful Ohana Camp in Post Mills, Vermont. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the wonderfully helpful camp directors who gave us a map to our cabin. Our cabin door was flung open by my herd of excited children, and they more +began 'claiming' which bunks they each wanted. Our adventure was already off to a fun start.

The cabins are rustic, old braided rugs on the floor, wicker furniture, complete kitchen with a fridge, and an on demand water heater in the bathroom, so there was always enough hot water, even when we all needed consecutive showers after swimming. The bunks were sturdy, and the windows had good screens, so there were no bug issues inside. Meals at Ohana were good, my kids are a little picky, so I should have brought some simple fare for our fridge. One meal included roasted chicken breasts with currants (?), red mashed potatoes, and a salad. The kids were put off by the currants, and the fact that the mashed potatoes had red peel... so they ate salad. There was a fruit bowl on the counter, along with a bowl of granola bars, so nobody starved, and most meals were pretty kid-friendly.

The camp staff is absolutely fabulous. There are just enough staff members that you can learn their names, and they will remember yours, and probably even the names of your kids. They all seem to enjoy children, without any creepiness or fake kindness. The waterfront is a bit of a downhill hike, so if your knees are anything like mine, you might want to take the hourly van. We enjoyed horseback riding, hot air ballooning, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, woodworking, archery, fairy house construction, and a contra-dance. My son managed to fall off his boat into the water about 20 times, and the waterfront staff were very patient and helpful, even going so far as to 'rescue' him with the motorboat when he got too tired to paddle back to the dock.

Overall I think that the time we spent at Ohana made our family unit stronger, and will be a great memory that we will always be able to share. Enjoy!

My Ratings:

Kids Programs/Activities: 5 Mike & Ciara were totally involved in everything fun, and helped keep my kids busy!

Pools and Water Fun: 5 Very fun, and safe for all ages, even babies were having a blast on the tiny beach!

Dining: 4 Great food, if you've got picky kids, or don't eat red meat, you might want to bring food for the fridge.

Accommodations: 5 Neat, clean and totally fun!

Play Areas: 4 The only problem I have with the play areas, is the fact that you can't see the swing set from more than 10 feet away. Otherwise, everything was really fantastic.

Helpfulness of Staff: 5 What a wonderful group of people!!!

Value for Money: 5 Expensive, but can you really put a price on your family? Mine is much closer since our time at Ohana.

Location 5 Beautiful rolling hills of Vermont, great view of the lake, and lots of things to do.
