Closed!!

by abz f

Booked this 10 months ago via Expedia. Arrived this evening to find place completely closed down, looking derelict and abandoned.
We were with some friends who had also booked same hotel but with another agent.
Not the best sight to see after a whole days travelling.
Called Expedia who said they had received no update from hotel about being closed.
A guy walked past who said the hotel has been closed for months and was being refurbished!

How rude

Booked after seeing the beautiful photos of elegance and coziness and great location ( 3 1/2 months in advance receiving a confirmation). After 7 hours on the road and just four hours prior to our weekend events we entered an empty torn apart lobby filled with construction workers, wires hanging down, dust everywhere. Looked like a bomb site. Hotel was closed for remodeling. I never received a notice and there was no one to contact by phone for help.
