Yes, Alabama has beaches! Situated on the Gulf of Mexico, Alabama's Gulf Shores are a family vacation destination through and through. Located within the Gulf Shores is the town of Orange Beach, where you'll find activities galore (both on and off the beach), restaurants with fresh seafood and vacation rentals, as well as hotels.

All you have to do is unpack your bags and settle in for days on the sand. Your family might also opt for an afternoon at Waterville USA or an evening on a helicopter ride. The point is -- your vacation can be as busy or as breezy as you want it to be.

Note that the waves in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach can get rough, and as such, safety beach flags are posted along the shoreline. Green flags are good; yellow means proceed with extra caution; red means visitors need to stay out of the water; and a double red flag means you'll be fined if you're seen in the water. Heed the warnings accordingly and your vacation will be enjoyable!
