Palm Springs Family Friendly Restaurants
Las Casuelas Terraza 222 S. Palm Canyon Drive•Palm Springs, CA •760-325-2794 Mainstay Las Casuelas is generally buzzing with diners for lunch and dinner. Though not extraordinary, the food is decent, and we very much enjoyed our spot on the pleasant patio. The restaurant is centrally located downtown. Its menu of burritos, tacos, tamales, and more is expansive, and its kids' menu includes quesadillas, burritos, tacos, and hamburgers. |
Native Foods 1775 E. Palm Canyon Drive•Palm Springs, CA •760-416-0070 Native Foods is a vegan's dream eatery, and even meat-eaters find themselves impressed with the creative menu full of delicious wraps, salads, rice-and-veg bowls and more. The kids' menu here is a breath of fresh air. Sure, there are chicken nuggets, quesadillas, and even pizza, but it's all dairy-free, meat-free and whole-grain-loaded. My daughter's favorite is the mac-and-cheese, made with quinoa pasta, vegan cheese and broccoli trees. |
Palm Greens Cafe 611 S. Palm Canyon Drive•Palm Springs, CA •760-864-9900 In a cozy room that may transport you mentally to a Bali beach (the screening surf videos assist in this effort), indulge here in healthful, delicious food, including macrobiotic, vegan and/or gluten-free options. Items like noodle and rice bowls and miso soup may appeal to some kids, but if they're more a grilled cheese kind of kid (I'm speaking reluctantly from experience here), the restaurant will oblige, even though grilled cheese is not on the menu. |
The Cowboy Way Bar-B-Que 2000 N. Palm Canyon Drive•Palm Springs, CA •760-325-8400 This cheery place with cowprint tablecloths and toe-tapping tunes serves up some fine barbeque. The roast chicken is very tasty, and my husband raced through his trio of sliders. Kids may be interested in sides like cornbread and baked beans, and there's a small kids' menu as well that includes hot dogs and sliders. |
Woody's Burgers and Beer 317 North Indian Canyon Drive•Palm Springs, CA •760-230-0188 With a dimly lit back room exuding a speakeasy vibe, Woody's -- owned by the amiable Wayne Woodliff -- is a hopping jazz and blues joint after the sun goes down. But, during the day, with the diner counter in its brightly lit front room at its helm, the food here is at center stage. Choose from a range of creative burgers (substitions for beef include chicken, turkey and veggie), and though there is no separate kids' menu, any burger can be made into a slider. |
