Park City is, once again, offering a complimentary lift ticket the day you fly into Salt Lake City. The ticket can be redeemed at any of the three ski areas in town. In addition, you can ski all three resorts with an interchangeable lift ticket called the Silver Passport.
Don't forget that you're at an altitude of more than 8,000 feet, so drink plenty of water.
The Art of Smart Timing
As noted above, Park City is known for its stellar early skiing, so if you can get there in December, before the New Year's rush, you'll have the slopes to yourself, and the rates will be cheaper. January brings the Sundance Film Festival to town. Many of the filmmakers and studio executives will stick to Main Street, leaving the slopes open to anyone who can snag a room. Also, the mountains are just as glorious in summer, welcoming mountain-bikers and hikers. So, consider a warm-weather escape when hotel rooms are cheaper.
Getting Around
You'll want a car, not only to drive from the Salt Lake City airport, but to get to and from the ski areas, Utah Olympic Park and the restaurants and shopping on Main Street.
Off the Radar
If you've never checked out Salt Lake City, it's certainly worth a day or two to visit Temple Square, the world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where you can listen to the sounds of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Discovery Gateway is also one of the best children's museums in the country.
