Worst resort wver

This resort was recommended as “the” place to stay in Orange Beach/Pensacola area. Despite it costing $250usd for the night (most hotels in the area were around $100/night), we thought we’d splurge and enjoy the “luxury”. The beach was very pretty and the views from the hotel were lovely. The good stops there.

The resort was disappointing. There appeared to be several conferences taking place and the hotel was definitely short staffed. The staff who were there we generally unhelpful (had no recommendations for places to go or things to see while in the area) and not so friendly (except for the valet parking guys - they were all very friendly). Our room size was good but the linens were old, frayed and full of little linen balls (like when the linens are old and need replacing) and there were crumbs in the bed.

The pool was unheated and freezing cold and there were no towels to be found anyways.

We were told that breakfast was included in our room rate but after eating, were provided with a $30 bill for breakfast. Apparently we were supposed to eat in a club room on the 8th floor - but we were never told that. The staff didn’t seem to care and charged us the extra rate anyways.

We checked out and went to the holiday inn resort in Pensacola beach for the rest of our stay. Paid $113/night there and it was glorious! The staff at the Holiday Inn Resort in Pensacola Beach are friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is modern and clean. The rooms are lovely, the lazy river pool is sparkling clean, heated and wonderful. The beach is spectacular. The restaurant was excellent and there were no hidden fees.

I’d recommend skipping the pricey and tired Perdido Beach Resort and head over to the Holiday Inn Resort on Pensacola Beach!

Pleasantly surprised by this resort

Ranking should be between 4 and 5, but went with 5. Attended a weeklong conference at this resort. Location was fabulous, right on beach with osprey and dolphins seen in the mornings. Managed to get a top floor room with view of pool and ocean, which was great. Wouldn’t want to pay top dollar but got it at conference rate. Room was spacious and clean. A bit outdated room finishes. Liked having a fridge in the room but it randomly made loud noises and I couldn’t get it unplugged. Like most hotels doors were loud. Staff all friendly and helpful. Conference facilities pretty good. Food was excellent not only at conference but also at the pizza shop downstairs and from several room service orders. The snapper diner, fried shrimp basket, fried pickles and okra especially noteworthy. Would like to see a small convenience store open all the time; a bit available at front desk and surf shop but not much. Beach towel dispenser was a great idea. Didn’t go in pool but it looked nice and had a nearby outdoor bar. Wish the city would put in sidewalks so tourists could safely walk around. Overall great stay and would consider it for a future visit.
