Philadelphia Family Vacations Overview

Written by
IT had been a while since I'd visited Philadelphia. It's a place my parents took me as a child. We did the history thing: touring the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross's House, and Franklin's Print Shop. I went back years later with friends to visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. This time around, however, I traveled with my husband and our 7-year-old. Coming back felt like visiting an old friend.

Last Thanksgiving, our family spent a week in Philadelphia plus two nights in Valley Forge. We stayed 4 nights at the Sheraton by the waterfront, two nights on the parade route at the city center Marriott and then at the Hilton Place in Valley Forge. We ate at the City Tavern, had a wonderful tour of Christ Church, and explored Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's printing press and Franklin Museum, the Constitution Center, Drexel Natural History Museum, The Franklin Institute Science Museum, Valley a Forge Nation Historic Park, and more! We even got a great view of the Thanksgiving a Day Parade. Read More Read Less
